(Part) of the ashes of cremated Buddhists in Thailand has been laid to rest in a (family) "satoop" as the Thai say. A "satoop" is a small Stupa of some meters high and show the photos of the deceased in question.
Another way is putting the ashes in niches in a wall, also showing the photo of the deceased, mostly around the premises of a wat (temple).
