TREATING VICTIMS

Mongoose attacking an Asian Cobra

Snakes are considered to be the deadliest animal on earth due to the high number of people that are killed each year from snakebites. The Asian Cobra is notorious for killing the most, due to its aggressive behavior and lack of fear towards humans. The snake's venom is classified as a neurotoxin that rapidly attacks the nervous system and can lead to immediate asphyxiation (inability to breathe). Asian Cobras are found mainly in India, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, & Thailand, so be extra careful if you plan on visiting south-eastern Asia.

Death Toll: 50,000+ per year

A real agressive Cobra (behind glass)
A real agressive Cobra (behind glass)
This early afternoon I was using the shower-place outside when one of the dogs barked very short and left its place. Very short later I discovered a King Cobra of around two meters moving at the edge of the shower-terrace. I collected quickly my camera but failed in picturing him because the camera was kept in an air-conditioned space and the lens steamed-up caused by the hot and humid atmosphere. It was without doubt a King Cobra because when I approached he showed his typical warning pose. He disappeared under the wooden terrace-extension so I suppose that I can count another uninvited guest to my garden users.
In spite of my intentions to close the (outside)-doors behind me this afternoon I forget with the result that my garden-inhabitant (a Cobra) sneaked (or can one say "snaked-in"?) in.
Unfortunately I was too lazy to make a snake-catching device, which I will do soon now, which the result that I have to wait for some specialists to catch it.
A Cobra: "Got you! Accepting you in the garden is one thing but please don't sneak into my living!"
Oh, eh, as I have one more in the garden, and even bigger, I'll make hasty a snake-catcher stick so I can help myself.
A Cobra, I just met this uninvited guest in the kitchen: everyone starts hiding for the floods! As I cannot find him anymore, he's hiding in between kitchen-cupboards, I cannot phone the rescue-services to help to get rid of him.........

As the creature was feeling a week already before our whole environment was being to be under water it started looking for a shelter! One week later I had to leave my house for a dry environment as I couldn't go out without a boat anymore.
I couldn't find my friend the Cobra anymore but phoned to be sure the rescue-team. We searched fruitless for more than one hour without result. So, we have to live together until he leaves his hide-out in the kitchen.......
